XCOM

So I wasn't too hyped for XCOM until I saw this trailer.

For those of you who have never heard of the original XCOM, it was basically a tactical game that was a cross of Sim City and Civilization games, except you were trying to thwart the alien menace that was attacking the earth. Now, I never played the original XCOM games (and I'm not very much into tactical games so I'm not really interested in going to play it), but they came out for MS-DOS/Win98, to give a judge as to how old these games are. A few of XCOM's sequels have been released on the PS1. Aside from the first game, the original creator, Julian Gollop (founder of Mythos and later Codo Games) only oversaw the first and third games in the series.

This time around, 2K Marin (formerly known as Irrational Games), the people in charge of the original Bioshock game, are in charge. As you can see from the trailer above, it looks fucking amazing. The aliens look crazy, like to the point where there seems like there will be a lot of frantic action. Also, it seems there's a lot of different destructible objects, which so far hasn't really been featured in anything they've made in recent memory.

The weird thing is that this is the E3 trailer. Maybe I'm just high off of cold medicine right now, but doesn't E3 start on Monday, June 14?
