SCEA filed a patent for a system that gives players a near finished copy of a game, but slowly removes features until you buy it.
For example a weapon can be weakened or replaced with a less powerful one after so many hours of play, levels might disappear from the game, or the sound and graphics can weaken in quality.
The idea is really interesting, but I don't see anything wrong with the way demos work now. But it will be really cool to see this system implemented.
