The Infinity Wars

From My Blog Photos

There is currently a legal battle being fought between Activision and the (ex)heads of Infinity Ward, Jason West and Vince Zampella.

According to Kotaku.com, they are filing a lawsuit because they had not seen any royalties in relation to Modern Warfare 2, which is illegal here in the state of California, as is listed by the article.

What I find the most interesting (other than the fact that they seem to have been fired on imaginary terms) is that they are also seeking the rights to the Call of Duty franchises, which wouldn't be so bad for us gamers, but would be absolutely TERRIBLE for Activision's future. I mean, they would still have Blizzard to hold them up, but the Call of Duty games are their main franchise at this point.

Personally? I'm rooting for West and Zampella. Bobby Kotick has been painted as trying to take the fun out of the gaming industry, and now his company seems to be trying to take the legality and just compensation out of the equation. Also, West and Zampella have proven that they know how to direct a studio, as well as run the Call of Duty games right.
